The final week of the season finally arrived after a rain marred season. The weather was perfect. We ran early in the day too. Practice was a blur as they was in high speed mode we ran 3 practices in an hour and a half. We made a few changes and the car was really good. We turned our fastest laps ever at the dog getting into the 13.1 range!! We were all really excited about that. The car was driving really good too. We started the heat race race on the outside of Brad Coll and he beat B to the punch as he just spun the tires and Brad took off. B would reel him back in and make a move and take the lead 3 laps later. We won our 4th heat race in a row!! We started the feature in 5th and slid back a couple of spots and made our way back up to 3rd when the 42 and 24 blew by us like we weren't even there...(crate engined cars imagine that) The caution came out around lap 35 and Bryon said the car was really free coming in so I asked him if he wanted to pit and adjust it. He said it was up to me and I didn't even hesitate to tell him to come in even though we were running 4th at the time I knew it was only a matter of time until we headed backward. We came in and put a round in the bar and taped up the grill because the engine was only running 140 degrees. We came back out and we were put back in front of the lapped cars and the 757 didn't see Bryon taking his spot and hit him in the right front wheel which bent the wheel and probably toed it in. Our adjustment took care of the problem for most of the race but I have to wonder how much that hit to the RF hurt the car? As Jill put it "It looked like you had the Devil chasing you" Bryon was really wheeling and made it all the way back up to 5th but we just couldn't catch the lead pack they had gotten so far ahead because the final 65 laps were run under green. A great job by the whole entire field!! We were thrilled with the finish and Bryon was really happy. Then we are standing there and some guy accuses us of running into him under yellow? First of all we had no clue who this person was and secondly I was wondering why the heck is he in our pits? Come to find out he drove the 757 I guess. I didn't see the incident until I watched the replay on my in car camera...no we did not run into you, you ran into us. Anyways we completed our first full year at Monadnock! We finished 4th in the point standings! A pretty good year in a really tough and competitive division, we enjoyed running with all of competitors and hope to see them all again next season. Even though every race was not a smooth one we have respect for each and every driver out there regardless of what some of them think.
I want to thank all of our Sponsors for the 2006 season We Thank You all for helping us have a Great Sesaon!
